Wishes for Fishes

Frocking with fishes is better than washing dishes
You all know of my Crustacean obsession .... Well lately it seems that the ocean life is over taking my mind.  Because in the past few months I have been crushing on fishes too. Of course it makes sense, they both go hand in hand right? I mean they have just got to be friends.
FISH & Crustaceans!

[Side note: Yesterday I read in a magazine that it is good to only have 1 or 2 collections or else things could get tacky]
TOO FREAKING LATE!!!
I have so many collections I can't even count them right now.
Crustaceans, Hello Kitty, Boxer dog figurines, vintage dishware, Melmac, Bedding, Coats and that's all I can think of right this minute....
So I suppose I am tacky.
"Shhh let's just keep this on the down low... I mean look at these pictures"
*Laugh*

Lately I have been cleaning like no other. And really haven't took much "Happy time"
for me. I have been wanting to dress up and do this post for the past week or so and kept putting it off. Even today I almost didn't jump into this FISH MUUMUU I found. But the sun came out and I thought HECK let's do this. I did my makeup, I did my hair, I jumped into this crazy fun muumuu and then I felt it... The little bit of SPARKLE fun I have been missing. The Muumuu was a $1 purchase from Salvation army. I was THRILLED when I came across it.
(See the Orange chair? Found last week for $10 "It even came with a green velvet indoor cover which I will show you in the future" I had to have it because I have a thing for these chairs and this will be my 5th. First orange one though!!!)

I found these garage saling in May 2011 for $2 each I was STOAKED!
Later I came across one lonely yellow one in a thrift.
So far I have 2 yellows 1 orange 1 green and 1 brown.
I need to find 2 more. *lol*

This is my imaginary train station. Me and fish are waiting for our train....
I carry him in a pink basket cause he's magic and lives out of water.

It was sunny out but still a little chilly. My toes got cold waiting at the station.

"What's that fish? Your happy we are going on vacation?"

Me tooooo! Even if it's only for 15 minutes and in my head.

Everything worn was either thrifted, handmade or purchased second hand online.
Muumuu: Salvation army
Hair flowers: Made by me
Nemo Disney plush: Salvation army
Pink plastic bag: Garage saled
Shoes: Thrifted
Earrings: Thrifted
Koi fish pendant: Etsy
Bangles: Thrifted
Chair: Thrifted
Purple rose Sassy Vamps headband contest win from  The Amazing Des circus hottie

My newest pendant! A rainbow koi fish.

I found these plates for 50 cents each. I have another 2 of each kind not pictured.
I ate french fries off of them the other day. Best "fish" and chips I have had in awhile.

"Flowers in her hair, Flowers everywhere"

What's your thoughts on Fishes?
And do you have lots of collections too.
"PLEASE SAY YES" I don't wanna be the only tacky person.

  1. My husband loves looking at fishes. So much so that we're rehabbing a 55 gallon aquarium we got for $25 including stand. I like flowy fish with flowy fins.

Love the chairs and your photo shoot. I know that sometimes I get in the rut where I don't/can't dress up. Sometimes we just need to shake ourselves loose and have fun.

I have a small 5 gallon but I plan on getting a 10 or 20 soon. Yes I totally needed to let loose and have some fun.

    2. I left my 5 year old Calico Shubunkin at my in-laws when we moved. When I got him he was only about 2" long.Last I saw him he was almost 7" long. He's a big boy. He needs to be moved to a bigger tank which is what the 55 gallon tank is for.

  2. Don't worry, you are not the only one with multiple collections!! There's a lot of us out there.

I have the same fish plates, also thrifted and the large fish platter to go with them.

    1. My chairs are from the 70s. But they have started making them again. The reproductions are quite pricey, almost $200 per chair........ EAKKKK! I am way to much of a cheapo to pay that!

  8. Too much cleaning and not enough dressing up would be a sad state of affairs, Mrs C! So glad you decided to frock up in your delightful fish muumuu and go on holiday with Nemo! Don't you look gorgeous?
Oh tacky schmacky - who cares? I think a lot of us would have to plead guilty under that law, but really we are just dedicated seekers and collectors of treasure.
Love those chairs. That's another collection right there, and don't they look wonderful? Just like their Mama! xxxxx

  9. Heehee, you make me laugh. Great fishy outfit, and can I say I LOVE the chairs and your fishy dishies? I have two pet goldfish I'm rather fond of and we went to the Sea Life centre this week - you'd have loved it. ENORMOUS (and a bit scary) spidercrabs, moray eels, cute weeny baby seahorses...

I don't have TOO many collections, just earrings, nail varnish, cookie cutters, bud vases, jelly moulds, vintage annuals, Homemaker china, Christmas decorations and paper lanterns. I think that's it but you never know when a new one will start.
    xx

  10. You are looking gorgeous today Ms VC (you always look gorg, but today especially so) I love the flowers in your hair, very coral reefy. Lovely colours.
I love your chairs too, I can't believe you paid two dollars for them - I know the orange one cost more, but orange is a fabulous colour, so it was totally worth it.
Oh and that Kelly Wearstler room at the bottom of your page is beautiful, it reminds me a bit of the sea - I'm guessing you thought so too, and that's why you put it there (?)

I adore those chairs, I can't believe you snaffled them so cheaply!

Oh and I've got a green version of your basket. Nothing wrong with having too many collections - if that's tacky then I'm proud to be tacky! xx

  13. Aw, I love this post. You look so happy in your fish muumuu on your imaginary fish holiday. Who doesn't love a bit of tack. You're among like minded individuals here - the more tack the better. I am cuckoo over your garden chairs. Simply awesome, and so cheap! I also love the pink plastic basket bag. Everyone had these in the 80's. I always wanted one but never actually got one:( I'd snap one up in a second if I found one xxx

  15. I love fish and I do have a few fish ornaments but my big collection is pieces of coral and shells. Hubby and I went snorkeling in Thailand a few years ago and I was so enthralled with all the beauty and excitement that hides underneath the surface so last year we went one better and learnt how to scuba dive. If you love fish and crustaceans then I strongly recommend learning scuba it is like nothing else, a passport to a magical place where not very many humans go.
Having more than two collections is tacky? Och, I'd rather be tacky and happy than to fit in with some conformist view of a magazine....I'm a staunch Tacktivist!
I love your get-up, the MuuMuu is spendiferous...xXx

  16. I had one of those bags! We called them jelly bags! SO impractical to take to school as things like pens would escape, so some girls took to lining them with carrier bags! Love those chairs too xxx

  17. Love your chairs Coconut, especially because of all the different colours, you have some fabulous fishy stuff in your collections, and I have far too many collections too, books, bedding, magazine cuttings, jewellery, ornaments, various recycled plastic tubs that I can't throw out, old sentimental stuff, nearly every drawing and award certificate the kids have ever done or won, so I must be very tacky too. You look tropical and lovely in your muumuu and flowers and I love that line "Me tooo, even if it's only for fifteen minutes and in my head" xx

I love your fish, but I think the basket is super cool. I remember having one in the 80's. But man alive, I LOVE those chairs. I never come across stuff like that. I would love to join you & the fish & crabs for a picnic on those glorious chairs. I thought of you when I found that fish platter the other week. Thanks for always bringing colour & fun into our lives! Xx
