And the verdict is....

 My Lobsters are happy,  and so am I. The possible future sofa I posted about yesterday now belongs to me. It's BRIGHTER in person and it's actually orange, yellow & red. It's in AWESOME condition "Better than I even expected." And I paid $50.00 for it.

The seller was a friendly older woman named Eleanor who had quite a lovely 1940s - 1950's home.

One of the rooms in the basement of her house had 1950s bi plane wallpaper on a whole wall. It was really cool and I totally wish I had took a picture to show you guys "But I didn't want to look like some weirdo snapping pics in a strangers house."

The seller told me that the couch had belonged to her parents who died in the 1970's. She then took it and had it in a spare room in her basement and and had only used it 4 or 5 times.

The seller also had a HUGE aloe vera  plant sitting in the window sill of the room the sofa bed was in. I told her it was nice and looked to be thriving. She then asked if I wanted some of it to re-plant. The next thing you know shes digging in her aloe plant pulling me out some pieces.

I planted what she gave me and I hope it survives the moving shock. I will show you my newly acquired aloe in my next post.

The fun doesn't stop there... I was then asked if I wanted to keep the bedding that was on the sofa bed because if not She was just going to donate them to a thrift store.

I have not taken a good look at them yet they are still in the vehicle and I need to wash them,  but I know that two of them are vintage wool 50s - 60s  blankets and for sure one has satin trim. There is also a 60's floral sheet.

 As I type this I am sitting on my new to me Sofa. When I suddenly thought to myself... I hope I don't wear the foam out in these cushions of this couch because I like it way to much.

"I seriously think the weirdest things"

 Apparently it will give me a HEALTHFUL sleep too so that's a bonus.

I am looking forward to garage saling on Saturday morning.

Maybe I will find some throw pillows.

Orange and brown and striped all over

I have been on the lookout for a replacement vintage Hide-a-Bed  for our "T.V. room"

Last year I saw one at a garage sale for $50.. It obviously didn't sell because I noticed the next day it was listed in the freebie section of the classifieds. ("So I went and picked it up") It worked good for the first while but we realized quickly the cushions that went along the back were a little too worn in and ended up sinking into blobs after watching a show or two. *lol* So we took those off the darn couch and have been using the couch without them which is... well hard and springey at times.

 So I started my search for a new one in the beginning of January and have seen a few but they get snapped up QUICK or are priced higher than what I want to pay.

"After all I am a bargain hunter..."

This afternoon this sofa was listed on a classified site. I e-mailed the owner within the first 30 something minutes of it being posted. I have plans to go look at it tomorrow afternoon.

I just LOVE it. 

So I have my fingers and toes crossed that it will look as good in person as it does in it's photos.

For some reason I have always loved plaid couches.

If I do get this loveseat... I need to get some crochet covered cushions ASAP!

There is one thing I am wondering... I wonder if it's a Simmons?

My garage sale loot for the end of April

 My wood salt and pepper shakers from my previous post needed some friends. I paid $2 for this little spice rack.

 50 cents for this DANSK Spider candle holder and a set of brand new green candles.

I grabbed these off the table faster than you can say *WOOHOOO*

 As far as I am concerned you can never have enough glass Pyrex measuring cups.

I paid $1 this one. If you look at the price they want for these in stores now... you would buy all the ones you came across too. *lol*

 Milk glass table lighter $1 " I missed it the first glance over the table. I am SO GLAD I took a second go over. The lady who was having the yard sale was a very nice older lady.

"She even had some faux fur coats for sale. Although they were quite small... but still that just adds to her coolness factor."

 After yard saling I always stop off at Salvation Army. That is where I bought these judgmental monkeys. $1 for the pair.

 These fantastic vintage earrings were also purchased from the nice old lady for 75 cents. I asked Claude to show them to you guys. Too bad he is more worried about his claws rather than the earrings.

Apparently the ladies at one thrift shop in town did NOT put on there reading glasses to see the .925 Sterling imprint on the tail.

 ("Lets inner NERD out") TURTLE POWER!! So if you must know I have a place in my heart for the TMNT. When I saw these two cups from 1989 for 10 cents I willingly handed my dime over.

The date was Sunday April 29th I had just finished up at dollar tag sale day at one of the thrifts I go to. When we got in the vehicle Mr. was heading in the direction of home. When I said "Can we go check out (Other thrift store we usually only go to on Sundays)

Mr. gets in the other lane to head to the said store.

I look through the ladies clothes and don't see much to jump around over. I am walking PAST the baby section when I see something bright and vintage on the very FRONT of the rack... as I get closer I make out a shape that  I am very fond of. My heart starts racing a little faster... I run the last 3 steps and grab!!!

 This MOST CUTEST BABY Bathing suit!!! OH MY HECK!! A 60s baby lobster BIKINI!!!!

Even if I tried to tell you how excited I was when I pulled this off the rack... you still would not understand. I swear on the ride home I said how much I loved this at least 5 times. Thank God I married a patient man. *lmao*

But seriously people... WHAT are the chances that this cute little swimsuit would end up in my claws?? I mean hands..... REALLY HOW MANY vintage lobster swimsuits could there really be out there? And somehow... one just ended up in my town... on the front of the rack for me to spot?

I would not have seen it if it was in the middle as I had no plans to look through the munchkin clothes.

The store was having a buy one get one free on clothes. So of course I am all about deals... I needed to find something else to purchase with the lobster bikini. I found this  crazy cute little ruffly dress.

It's made of some sort of delicate material and the inside is like a little slip.

For those of you new to my blog. No I don't have any kids, and I am not pregnant. *LOL*

But I do buy things for my "Future baby coconuts" which I plan on creating ... well... in the future.

Lastly I had to laugh because it was laundry day for my ("Adult floral pattern quilt")
I am a sucker for cute things and try not to OVER-LOAD the Mr. with my cute obsession.
But I needed a quilt so I went to grab my Queen size Tinkerbell quilt. Putting my Tink quilt on the bed with my small throw pillow collection made our bedroom look like it belonged to a little girl. *hahaha*
To me is screams HAPPINESS...
But I can't imagine how "manly" a guy could feel crawling out of a bed that looks like this to go to work.

I have had this dress for awhile now and was waiting for the perfect time to wear it.

Since Mad Men season 5 premiered this week I thought it would be perfect.

BUT HEY!! I haven't watched it yet... "Why??" Because it's been so long since it was last on the Hubs and I decided to Re-watch it from Season 1. Right now I am in the middle of season 2...

SO NO SPOILERS *lol*

 Mrs. Magnolia loves to make faces. But when her husband is taking the photo and sees the face made on the still image in the camera he looked up over the camera to see what his wife is doing.

 Which made Mrs. Magnolia laugh!

 Did you know at one time in my life when I was little and asked what I wanted to be when I grew up I used to say a Ventriloquist. *LMAO*

I swear up and down left and right I am not joking. Whenever I think about that now it gives me a good laugh. (I was not your average child.) And I bet my parents are glad that dream did not come true. (No offense to the Ventriloquists)

Crazy Checks & My Precious

Happy Frock on Friday!

The dress was found at my usual $5 bag sale. Meaning it cost me about 75 cents. I got others at the same time... but sadly it looks as though most of them are too big for me.

"Touch my shopping bag and I will beat your @$$!!" (Not really but that was my caption for this photo when I seen my face. )*lol* I am IN LOVE with this shopper bag I found. First off it was sitting outside in a FREE BOX... BUT WAIT... as we are pulling up to the shop and I spot it. Store employees are walking outside towards their free stuff. One of them grabs the bag *WHAT??!*

She carries it in the store and I over hear her say she thought someone donated it and threw it there. But then another employee said no "We got it yesterday and so on so put it out their because they didn't think it was worth much" I know if I don't speak up soon this damned bag will get a pricey sticker. So I blurt out from the isle "How much do you want for that bag?" Then they look puzzled. "Ohhh gosh I am thinking" One says "Two fifty?! looks at the other one (Do you think that's okay) "Uhmm yea okay says the other lady".) So I tell them I will think about it and then after that I hear "If she doesn't buy it we can get more for it." *Sigh* So I just say "I will take it can you hold it for me until I am done shopping."

Sadly the original owner of my fave thrift store left in the middle of Feb. These people who run it now are all new. (Most of the old staff left the same time as the old owner) I see some higher pricing going on and changes every time I visit.

As they say.... "Nothing lasts forever"

I really have to start getting some stuff done outside soon. The yard looks like absolute trash and I am limited to where I can take pics right now. No one wants to look at dead plants from last summer. Am I right??!! *haha*

My Mother who was with me when I purchased it ... *Hates it* And thinks I should sell it. My Dad says: "It's LOUD & different" (But it did make him smile so that has to count as something.) I think.....
And now you see how hair lazy I was. Clip here, clip there, clip left, clip right.

Wearing my green Bagel shoes Mr. bought me in the fall. They were perfect because this dress is TOO LONG. I am going to hem it so I don't wreck it. I swear the original owner must have been close to 6 feet. It puddles on the floor on my 5'4" body.

P.s. I bought my first pair of original 60's Cateye frames a couple days ago.

I am going to get them filled with my prescription *HOPEFULLY*

I am going to have to look for a place that doesn't mind working with vintage frames.

My weekend has been a good one so far. Last night for dinner we went to ... THE RAMEN SHOP! *lol*

This was taken this morning. I was leaving the dollar tag day thrift shop and was on my way to one more. I had a huge bag.... but didn't want it in the pictures. *haha*

DEAR ME... I could have rolled around on this couch and posed for an hour... I declined because it was in the middle of a thrift store and there was people shopping all around. *BAHHH* I saw this sofa for sale last week... This week it had a sold tag on it. But that didn't stop me from sitting down for a mellow pose before it goes of to it's new home.

I AM DAMNED crazy about the color.
