Hail balls must mean Winters on the way

 

Last Saturday was the first Sat in many months I did not hit the morning garage sales. It almost felt weird to sleep in until 10 something in the A.M. But just because I didn't go saling doesn't mean I didn't get out of the house to do some thrifting.

 

 

 When I woke up the mountain tops held my first glimpse of snow since January...

 

 Later in the afternoon I was inside that store on the right and when I walked outside there was a CRAZY hail storm!! I ran to the vehicle pulling my hood over my head and every little blasted hail ball that hit my face stung!

It has been awhile since I last posted... But guess what was posted to me? From Vanessa the wee squirrel!!

Things found, bought, brought home & scattered about!

 

I am a little behind on showing you these kind of things...

But here is a start...

 

 

 This awesome bag was purchased when I went on that out of town day trip I was talking about last month. I walked into the store doors. The elderly woman told me they were closing in (3 MINUTES)

Omg I was frantic.... "Running up and down the isles like a turkey being chased by a fox"

*Gobble Gobble Hubble rubble* <---- Okay I wasn't actually making noise on my frantic search... but honestly... I came quite close. I was crushed but I managed to see this bag hanging on a end in a plethora of cast away handbags. This WAS the store I was most excited about rummaging through... So next time I go, they will be my first stop.

 

 

These ceramic mermaid fish riders were found on the weekend at Salvation army. I bought them for $1 each.

The magazine was bought at a garage sale I went to some weeks back.

I found 7 of them in pretty good condition.They are all from 1973-1974.

 

 

When I found this Volkswagen van on the kids toy shelf for $5 I knew I could not leave it behind.

When I was 11 years old I started taking a real liking the Volkswagen Vans. I always told my Dad that when I got older I was going to get one.

(Sadly MANY years later I still don't have one.... but I am not losing hope!!!)

This isn't a little dinky toy. The Vans about 8" long and the wind shield wipers can be moved, the back window opens and it's just pretty awesome.

 

Estate sale find! A Samsonite beauty case with original box (Never been used) came with keys and all. I paid $15 I was REALLY having to think if I wanted to spend that much. But then I realized... sometimes I can be a little too cheap. So I gave myself the little push I needed and paid the sellers asking price. (Meanwhile there was a hovering Chic.... who was watching me like a hawk... I suppose she was waiting for me to put the case down so she could snatch it up with her large TALONS ....)(Ermm.. I mean hands)

Once I paid she buggered off not looking too happy.

 

 

*mMmMm* This was last nights snack!! *HAHAH*

I hit the 10 pounds lost mark about a week or so ago. Sheesh I thought that milestone would never come.. But it did!!

*YAY*

 

Last week was the Mr & I's Wedding Anniversary. We went out for CRAB LEGS to celebrate. I joked saying "we had to get something crab" ... for a memory of the occasion. Well I almost fell over when that night I found a Crab Cushion for $4 at a thrift shop.

Frocked up and calling the police!

 Well this "Frock on Friday" post is a day late, for good reason though!! I think it was the most weirdest Fof for me so far yet. I was waiting for the Mr. to get home from work so we could go out and take my Friday frock pictures. I told him I wanted to take a drive out to the rural farmland. (Being a person who loves farms!) So we hopped in the vehicle and set out to take these photos.

I had my post pretty much worked out in my head but in the end NOTHING went as planned.

 We reached my chosen destination and the Mr and I got out  and were ready to snap some photos... I was about to climb up on a big boulder and strike a pose when I inhaled the most FOULEST smell I have ever smelt. I looked in front of me and [If your squeamish quit reading NOW!!!!] There was a black garage bag tossed behind the rock. Surrounding the bag the ground was blood soaked and there was maggots everywhere. I turned my head and covered my nose and mouth and bolted for the vehicle. "Come on" I said to Mr. Coco. There is something dead in there and it smells horrible.

I told Mr. we should phone the police because.... well you never know what could be in the bag and just in case it's something important or well evidence I would feel bad if we just left and never said anything.

We drove about a mile and a half from the "Disgusting place" and stopped to call the police. After the whole incident... I was so grossed out and COULD STILL smell whatever it was thrown behind the rock. But I managed to take a few photos with the self timer while Mr was on the phone and Mr took a couple while we waited for the police.

When he told the dispatcher what we found she asked if we could please stay there and she would get someone out right away. We stayed right where we were to wait there was no way I was getting any closer to that Horrific scent.

 The dress was found in a church thrift for about 75 cents. It's homemade and reminds me of something a vampire lady would wear. Mr. thought I looked like a Priestess dragon slayer!!! *lol*

 About 25 minutes later the police showed up. "She could even smell the foulness from a mile and a half away." We took her to the area of the nasty thing... She first took photos of the scene. (I stayed in the vehicle for two reasons "I am very squeamish" and was slightly worried the bag could contain human remains or a household pet.) If I ever seen any of those things the image would be branded in my mind forever and I would be traumatized. *SERIOUSLY*

Okay so the police didn't really want to open the bag either. She was talking to Mr. Coco putting on her black rubber gloves. Mr. Coco said.... I was going to look in the bag but I didn't have any gloves or anything. She said " I HAVE GLOVES and I don't want to open the bag!!!"

The bag was actually moving because of all the maggots inside *shiver*

It turns out someone threw a bag of fish guts behind the rock?!?! WTF!!!

What a weird place to un-load your fish guts.... out in the country on a roadside pull-in.

 

The police said she was happy that it wasn't human remains.... because there is a missing woman and when we told them what we came across they were worried it might have something to do with that case.

All I can say is THANK GOD it didn't.

So after all this rigmarole by the time I got home I had to go to work and couldn't post my FOF!!

 

In Happier and less yucky news I got something lovely in the mail!!!

Member my seashell necklace?? Well Vix had a string at her house she no longer needed and said she would send it to me. It was packaged in this pretty little 1930s box complete with a lovely little tassel on the front drawer. Oh and look at the SEXY fairy on the card. *RAWRRRR*

I did burst out laughing when Vix's first words were "HELLO LOO!"

Loo is the nickname I have for my Mr. and he has the same nickname for me.

We have been Loo & Loo for years now. We rarely even call each other by our real names.

Thank you so very much Vix. I promise to do something wondrous with the string of shells.

P.s. Just recently got finished Garage saling, I didn't find too much but I did find a few things I will post soon. One of them was a 1962 white Samsonite vanity case that has the initial M on both of the front latches!! *YAY* M for Melanie!! It's a little dirty but I will see how it cleans up.

I suppose it was a surprise early Birthday Present from the thrifting Gods. Because I have never found any luggage with M's before. My Birthday is exactly 1 month from Yesterday and just like last year.... I am NOT counting the sleeps!!! But the good news is I am less worried about getting 1 year older than I was last year... Last year I was FREAKING OUT!!!

Celebrating being a Honorary Canadian Mexicana!

 Dora from VPJLM fulfilled my wishes on being a Honorary Mexican! I was so happy when I woke up and seen her blog post "Right Here" That I phoned Mr. Coconut at work on his lunch break and told him the news. I then told him we had to celebrate, he didn't put up much of a fight... and told me he would take me to the Mexican restaurant I have been badgering him about non stop for the past while. *woohoo*

 Here I am sitting at the table, I like the cute little "window" behind me.

They also had like 4 sombreros there... I was so jealous!

 Our waitress brought us out free tortilla chips and salsa *mmmm* (There was more.. but we were half way through munching them when I remembered to take a pic.) *lol*

 I ordered what they call the Taco Loco!! It was SOOO good. The half with the cheese on top had ground beef under it. The other side had bean on it. Once I was ready to eat I mixed it all together added my favorite thing (SALSA) and ate till I could eat no longer. "I was not able to finish it... it was quite big."

 Mr. ordered beef nachos. He is sort of picky with sauces and wanted to eat something he KNEW he would like.

 He also ordered a beef enchilada with a bean sauce.

 They had Spanish music playing and the inside was decorated real cute, bright & fun.

 I was tempted to tell them of my Honorary citizenship... but I worried they might kick my a$$!! *LOL*

 I also received a gift from the one and ONLY Nelly . And look what treasures she sent to me from Australia to Canada!!

 A Lobster mitt, A wooden lobster a Australia t shirt & a exquisite sugar bowl. Now the Sugar bowl did have a partner. It came with a little jug for cream. But SADLY it arrived in lots of pieces. I was sad at first... but like I told Nelly. It will give me something to search for. I will Scour (E-bay) (Etsy) & (Thrift stores) until I find it's mate.

 Look how gorgeous the design is! I didn't have a slightest clue this set even existed. I love it.

The bright crazy intricate designed dress

I did a HORRIBLE job of Frocking this Friday. I did wear a frock trouble is... I only took two darn pictures. And I didn't even get the whole darn dress!! (That's your fault Mr.)

I was very rushed today as Mr. still had to go do his last shift before the weekend. So I rushed out the door to go to the "Bag sale" Thrift. I didn't find too much this time. These pics were taken in front of a cute old house on the same street as bag sale. (I love that little front porch area.)

I bought this dress in a (Buy 1 get one free sale) The total was $5.00 so I suppose I paid $2.50

I am crazy about this big giant ring. It makes me think of black licorice whenever I wear it.

OMG!!! I love it immensely. I am going to wear it the next time I bake (Which will have to be soon now) Also in the package was those red & black leopard earrings. I loved the card... and instantly thought "mmmm Tomato soup" Then I realized... it wasn't soup... it was tea! *hhaha*

So this scarf you made is quite special because I am almost certain that this is one of the first handmade out of yarn gifts made especially for me. (Excluding maybe when I was a baby and some lady from church might have made me a blanket or toy or something.) Which might or might not have happened I really don't have the slightest clue. So thank you very much I will cherish the scarf you made.

Well the Mr. quite liked the apron as soon as he rolled out of bed this morning (Seriously no joke) I threw the apron over his neck and got him out on the patio for a picture.
