The daisy skirt goes to Mongolia

(Trying to be serious ... it's not really working)
Yesterday was my younger Brothers Birthday. I decided to wear this vintage daisy skirt.
I brought my camera to the Restaurant only to realize that I forgot my battery for the darn thing in the charger. Luckily I had my cell phone and got the pic below.
(My Brother and I)
(My plate of food)
We went to a Mongolian BBQ. It was absolutely delicious. I was so full near the end my Mr. had to help me finish my plate. *lol*
I found my Umbrella at The Salvation Army I paid $2.50 for it.
These daisy's grow in our yard every year. I love them they grow quite tall and have to be tied up to a stake.
As you can see they go perfect with my skirt.
*smile*

I just got this lamp from Salvation army for $10.00.  It is a really funky wood and brass lamp. It has a cast iron base. Now there is one this missing..... and that would be some glass shades that go over those brass cut out cylinders. Even though the lamp looks cool without glass shades I will surely be on the lookout for some that will make it look even better.
I dunno what it is but I have taken a liking to this stuffed pig. I haven't bought it and will try and refrain myself. BUT THERE IS A BIG blanket inside the pig so it's making it rather hard for me.
*hehehhe*

HAPPY JULY 4TH to all my American Bloggie friends. I hope you are all having lovely BBQ'S AND FIREWORKS and whatever other fun stuff that goes along with your Holiday.

Kewpie Vacation

Went on a day trip out of town. I took Kewpie for some documentation of the trip.
We stopped at McDonald's for breakfast
 Highway shot
Arrived in the town of our destination and used the bathrooms at The Bay.
Picture of me downtown, with one of the many painted buildings
Taken from the window of an antique store (Obviously a antique window too) *heheh*
Baby Carriage
 Awesome chair!
Kewpie could not have been happier ..... he found some relatives. TOO BAD they were locked up in a glass case in the Salvation Army.
 Stopped in at Value Village
 Walmart
Kewpie did a little rock climbing!
I purchased this fringe dress from Value village
Accessorized with Yellow and white Jewelry
I just found these last week. They are one of my fave purchases of the year so far right next to Beatrice my carpet bag purse.
Bought these for a 5'er on Saturday morning at a garage sale. A little more than I would have liked to spend... but I have been trying to not be a total cheapo! *hahaha*

Vaseline glass dish purchased from Salvation Army.

It has been a month since my last post. The reasoning is because of work.
One of stores we clean was supposed to switch over to Spring hours at the beginning of April. And it STILL HAS NOT HAPPENED YET. I was so looking forward to be able to clean a little less and have a bit more time for my hobbies. It can't be much longer before we get the go ahead. I mean Spring did start here on March 20 "WHAT'S THE FREAKIN HOLD UP?"

When I grow up I want to clean toilets!

*Hahaha* No that's not what I said when I was a child. When I was little my dream was to become a Ventriloquist.
 * Yes... I was a strange child*
 Photo taken from here
[Note: After searching for a Ventriloquist picture,  I again thought I really need one of those dummies in my life. What the heck?? It's like some weird magnetic urge to me. I find it strange, I am enticed by these weird dolls. Which worries me?! I just watched the beginning of this the other night and then remembered I had already seen it.]

I have worked as a chamber maid, breakfast cook,  in a wood plant & retail (clothing mostly)
Retail was my most recent on my resume.
Then I was in a auto accident and had some back issues so I had to leave the job I was at. At the time I loved hauling boxes of new clothing items and arranging them on racks on the store floor. But the Dr. said I couldn't go back right away. The store needed someone and after a few months of my Dr. notes they had to fill my position. Of course I ended up quitting because my Supervisor said.... "You either come back or I am hiring." "Well sorry but my bodies well being is much more important than making a little more than minimum wage." This was about 4 years back. Fast forward to now my Mr. works a full time job. And we really wanted to make some more money. He didn't want me going back to full or part time because then our shifts usually end up opposite of each other and we barely get time to be together. So one day I just said "Why don't we get a cleaning job? We can work for a couple hours a few nights a week. Work together and make money all at the same time. That was last February.... In April we started cleaning a big office supply store a couple nights a week. In June we took on a craft store also ... and just last week a book store.
So we are now busy cleaners. Three large stores and lots of stuff to make sparkle.
I cleaned 10 toilets the other night! None of them were mine... actually mine needs a cleaning but I am far to busy for that. *laugh* Maybe on the weekend.
Some people may look down on Cleaning or Cleaners for that matter.  But I would like to have those people know that cleaners probably get paid double of what the average jobs pay Example: super market, movie theatre, retail store or something along those lines. After doing this for awhile I thought "Why did I not do this sooner?" I used to go to work at the clothing store and work for 6 hours making the same amount I make in 2 hours cleaning.
This is not my dream job. But it might very well lead me to it.
My dream is to own my own Vintage & Thrift store.
I sat around long enough waiting for that magical moment when out of no where I was going to fall into money and all of my dreams would come true. *hahaa* Maybe a sparkling purple unicorn was gonna fly by my house and drop me off a half a million.
"I am still waiting Mr. Unicorn"

But until then.... until I am at where I want to be financially I am going to clean my tushie off!
I don't have to deal with rude customers. I don't have to hear tons of complaints... I don't have to try and explain that you cannot return a pair of pants to our store that had NEVER even been sold at our store and is not even a brand we carry.

"Oh yes but my dream is to own my own store..." So I suppose I will have to deal with that sort of stuff down the road. But you know what? I will be the boss by then and I can just kick those people out and tell them they are not welcome. *wink*
Here is my Vacuum. I am in love with Henry! He's the cutest little thing and makes my cleaning adventures even better. Who could be grumpy turning around to see him following you smiling?
My daily work attire consists of some sexy blue nitrile gloves.

(I am actually a little bit of a germophobe and gloves are a MUST for me.)
I even bought myself these cute ones for when I am doing glass and scrubbing.
Eventually I am sure I will add the leopard print cuff ones to my equipment. *hehe*
The only down side is I don't think I will be going to work in a 60's shift and curlers....  not yet anyways.
My mug that I have had for about a year.... "Hard work never hurt anyone but why take the chance?" I love it, its so cute. But unfortunately there are no people hiring to get their dogs vacuumed. *hehe*

So there is my take on cleaning "And no I will not brush your Loo!"

See you Tomorrow

Vintage Coconut 2. 013

Calm down... your on the right page. I just decided I needed a new look for the New Year.
So the crustaceans have been sent packing ( Now that doesn't mean I don't love them still, because I do)
Although I do think they may have scared off some potential blog readers. "I have a suspicion that people may have thought I had a unhealthy fetish for sea life." To that I say: You only live once!
*smile*
So welcome to my new blog look for 2013.
I may still have a few minor kinks to work out. But I am rather chuffed with it.
(Although please give me feedback on the font colors, are they okay on the eyes?)
I can lighten them a bit if it's a little much.
I don't want to be the reason someone strains an eyeball you know!!!

I wrote a little list of things I would like to do in 2013 after reading Vanessa's cute list.
Here they are

Things to do in 2013
1. Swim in the lake (I used to do this yearly, last year I didn't go once! *Boo*)
2. Cook More (I like to cook but don't do it near often enough.)
3. Save some money from my selling ("spend spend spend, none of my pants have pockets cause the money always burns through them")
4. Be more organized (I have nothing to say about this.)
5. Fly a kite (Everyone keeps telling me to go do this *wink*)
6. Fill a coloring book (coloring is relaxing.)
7. Go out of town thrifting (This is something I usually get to do every year and it's one of my favorite things to do.)
8. Make a dress (Hopefully more but I don't want to put too much pressure on myself, although I do have 5 sewing machines... that should be enough pressure.)
9. Make a rag doll (A cute demented one.)
10. Finish sock monkeys from last year (Almost there... just one armless girl, who can't hug her boyfriend back.)
11. Worry Less (I think I come from a family of alot of worriers. I most certainly do not want to carry on tradition.)
12. Think more positive ("The sun'll come out tomorrow So you gotta hang on 'til tomorrow Come what may")
13. Read more books ( "I love books but found my reading to be at a all time low in 2012")

So on with the show!

I am really looking forward to the Weekend as it seems I have not been thrifting in days.
I actually sat and though about what the Salvation Army might have in today.
*LAUGH*
Now that's when you know your obsessed.

The Orange Bridge

Hello Everyone! My gosh I have been silent since before Christmas, so I will give you a brief update.
p.s. This is the result of yet another 8 hours or so of snow flurries
(The only pic I have of Christmas Eve)

My Christmas Eve was the worst probably in my life. I got the flu early in the morning and spent the whole day in bed minus like an hour or so where I "tried to watch t.v. or spend time with family"
It was a weird flu! For some reason whenever I tried to watch t.v. I just felt worse and had to go back to bed.
(I will admit I even cried at a point thinking I might MISS CHRISTMAS!!!!)
But the Mr. went and got me some Buckley's cold and flu... and on Christmas morning I was feeling about 90% So thank God for that. Some other people told stories of feeling like crap for days so I guess I kind of lucked out.... a bit.... somehow.... okay well maybe it would have been better to not have got the flu at all.
THE ONLY plus side.... is I didn't intake any calories that day so I had lots to spare for Christmas and Chinese food.
*wink*
I did miss my traditional Chinese Christmas Eve buffet dinner. But we made up for it on December 26. So instead of wearing a red Christmas dress and get all dolled up. (I actually went in sweatpants a tshirt and a wool sweater.) *Ahhhh such is life*
Just goes to show you can't plan everything.
This was what I wore out today shopping. The tank top is a cute 60s tent style found at a thrift for $1. These pics were taken in a local park. This spot is the little "Japanese" garden area.
