No!! This is not a advertisement for Palmolive

 But Palmolive does have a small little debut in this Ta-Dah Tuesday post. On Saturday I went garage saling. Only 6 sales to go to because it was the last weekend in August. I did not find one thing (This is starting to become a trend, I suppose the season has come to a end. I will try one last time this Weekend.) I usually end our Saturday routine with a couple thrift shops.

Next stop Salvation Army, Which is where I found a half bottle of Palmolive for 0.29 cents and now I can have soft hands and be the Envy of the women in my neighborhood.

Okay I am kidding I already had the Palmolive. What I found was these Johnson Bros dishes!!!

 Aren't they GROOVY? Plates with flowers on them!! Who doesn't love to eat off of a flower plate?

 The thing is .... it wasn't just a couple of dishes...

 It was more like a Dish set

 I don't remember the last time I hand washed so many dishes. *Thank you Palmolive*

 I filled the drain rack 4 times

 The set was on the bottom shelf. It has 56 pieces. I only found a handful of flaws.

I had to have it as soon as I seen it. But I was worried what the Mr. would say... Had he said no I would not have listened... NOPE not this time. Thank God he knew I meant serious business!

After a couple hours of research I found out there is a butter dish and that I hope I eventually find. The creamer is another item I will search for as the jug I do have is the gravy boat. I imagine someone was clumsy and knocked the creamer off the counter.

 

This set should last me a good long time. Sadly WAY in the future my future children probably won't come across their childhood dishes in a thrift store and say

"These were the dishes I had when I was little, as often as I do."

Whenever I see any of these dishes at a Flea Market, Garage sale or Thrift shop.... I instantly reminisce on my childhood. I remember eating my cereal at the kitchen table in a swivel vinyl kitchen chair or standing on my tippy toes at Grandmas trying to get a mug so I could have some of my Grandpa's Ginger ale he always kept in the fridge.

 

You would probably never think dishes could impact someones life... But if you REALLY think about it. They are something you use daily.... They are used for MANY of lifes occasions and celebrations. They show up in family pictures and obviously are remembered in some peoples minds...

So for goodness sakes MAKE SURE you love your dishware!!

Blindingly blooming bright

 I purchased this dress from Etsy for $15 on June 5th. I loved the brightness and pattern. Once it arrived I tried it on and (Eeeep it was a little tight in the chest area.) I SWEAR I measured properly!!! I have NO CLUE why it was too tight. But now 2 months later and after a few shed pounds. I was able to finally wear my Etsy purchase.

 The Mr. is afraid of Bee's and apparently he saw a bee flying around these flowers where I wanted to take a pic. He said "I hope the bee doesn't sting you." I made this face, making fun of him. saying "AHHHH I got stung."

 These pics are taken at a park near my house. This area of the park is called butterfly garden because they fill it with all sorts of flowers. (What you like my white tights??) Those aren't tights... those are my legs!!! *LOL* I swear my legs are Spf 50 naturally.

Now I haven't spent ANY time tanning this summer. We have had alot of sun ... but laying outside in the dry heat doesn't tickle my fancy. I am usually in the pool splashing around trying to cool off.

Happy Friday!! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. I am hoping I have better luck with garage saling tomorrow than I have had the past couple Saturdays.

 The past week and a half has been a busy one. I have had my Grandma, Aunt & Uncle and two cousins down for 8 days. (They live in another province of Canada and I usually only get to see them every couple of years.) They arrived on Monday the 23 of July and just left on Tuesday afternoon.

I had no time to blog while they were down really. We did lots of shopping celebrated my Aunt and Uncles 27th wedding Anniversary and we even ALL went Garage saling on Saturday. We had a 3 car line that also included my parents. *hahah* When we all pulled up the people had a real busy garage sales..... when we were done we all walked back down the driveway at the same time. *HAH* it looked quite funny.

 This is what I wore to my Uncle and Aunties Anniversary dinner. It's a bright yellow 80's sundress. It has black buttons that go all the way down the one side.

I am going to count this as a Frock on Friday dress as I am totally behind on my frocking up!!!

I made the the orange flower clip that's in my hair. I love it!! It sort of has a pom pom look to it.

This was my dinner a Cajun chicken taco salad. (One of the lowest calorie items on the menu.)

Thank God it's one of my favorites!!!

 I was so proud of my Arnold Schwarzenegger Commando action figure that I purchased for $3 at a garage sale. I JUST had to get a pic with him before we continued on saling.

He even came with his machine gun and a little gun too.

 My Hello Kitty phone case arrived. It's larger than my Rilakkuma and quite chunky (But the cuteness makes up for it! Plus it still fits in most of my purse pockets.)

 I found this adorable little plush at Value Village for $1.99

I also found a cool Japanese robe (But it's in the wash so I will show it soon.)

 Purchased at a liquidation store for $3.99 I just couldn't resist these Pj shorts by American Eagle.

 I found this resin coral pendant on sale at Michael's craft store for $2.99 (Reg. $7) *SHEESH* I would have never paid that!!!

I think $2.99 is a great deal. I am going to add it to a string of shells I have,  rather than on a chain. At least for the rest of summer. There is some good clearance sales going on at Michael's if you have one near you. I am waiting to get paid so I can go back and pick up a few other items I seen on a great discount price but didn't have the cash for. *Crosses fingers some will still be there*

 Here is me last night on my bike ride. It's getting dark earlier we usually ride in the light... but dusk hit faster than we were expecting. *EEEP* days are getting shorter!

In my previous post I talked about how I had gained unwanted pounds and was trying to get into a routine that incorporated exercise AT LEAST 3 times a week. Well I have been doing VERY good with that. I almost feel as if something is missing if I don't get in some physical activity. So far I have lost 5 pounds. *WOOHOO WOOHOO*

It's very easy to give up on trying to lose weight when you don't see any results at all. BUT sometimes when your not losing pounds you are losing inches and today when I measured myself I saw I have lost a half inch in most places since I last took my measurements on July 6th.

"If you are planning on losing weight, make sure you weigh yourself, take your current measurements & take a before photo. That way when you are not seeing results on your scale you will have other ways of knowing what's going on with your body."

You didn't think I ride without a helmet did you???

This is my Helmet I ordered from Japan a month and a half back. I LOVE it even if I do look like a big kid. *HAHAHAHA*

$1 gingham dress gets a outing to the movies

 I haven't went to a movie in over 7 years. The last movie I "Remember" seeing in a Theatre was Shrek 2, so that has got to tell you something...

(I have never talked about a movie on my blog before... but I do right now so if your not interested in this part SKIP Thru this giant block of letters below.)

 I really wanted to see this movie and when I found out it was playing at the "Old Theatre" in town for only $3 I thought it would be a perfect time to watch it. I like "Scary movies" My Mr. does not... thankfully he came with because he said: "for better or for worse in our wedding vows" *lol*

I wanted to see this movie because over the years I have read alot about the nuclear disaster that happened in Pripyat Ukraine in 1986. Whenever I decide to look through photos and read stories I always feel sad. I hate seeing ghost towns & abandoned buildings as is. But throw in a horrible disaster as the cause for a abandoned town and it's even sadder to think about.

I suppose I wanted to start reading about it because my Grandpa was Ukrainian... I really don't know why it interested me so much. Disasters are not something I spend my time reading up on... Only Pripyat and it's story peaked my interest.

The movie really didn't have anything to do with "Actual Pripyat and what happened" Which I knew... I knew it was a horror movie based on the location of Chernobyl. The movie really wasn't that scary...  I was expecting a real *creep factor* but naww.... I didn't even have to grab Mr.s hand!!!

After seeing the movie I prefer to look through actual photos and read more written on it. Because the actual true to life stories on it.... are more intense than the movie ever could be.

I could never imagine what it would be like to have to flee from your homes in a moments notice and never be allowed to return. To see what those people saw, and go through all they had to go through.

The real story of Chernobyl is more 100 times more terrifying than this movie was.

 I wore my 60s yellow & white gingham Ruby Lou dress I paid $1 for a couple weeks back. We were running late as I wanted to get some snacks from the dollar store. I decided to slip on my black Justin cowboy boots and head out the door.

I took this while waiting for the movie to start..

This is our oldest Theatre in town. We have a Huge big "newer" fancy cineplex odeon on the other side of town. But this one does the job and I don't mind it one bit. 

It brought back some memories when the Mr. and I were dating we brought his Brother and Sister to this theatre to watch 101 Dalmatians in 1996

I was 15 and head over heels in love!

I could have had 12 dresses and the tax to pay for those dresses with that purchase! *lol*

I do have to admit the popcorn was good though...

And the verdict is....

 My Lobsters are happy,  and so am I. The possible future sofa I posted about yesterday now belongs to me. It's BRIGHTER in person and it's actually orange, yellow & red. It's in AWESOME condition "Better than I even expected." And I paid $50.00 for it.

The seller was a friendly older woman named Eleanor who had quite a lovely 1940s - 1950's home.

One of the rooms in the basement of her house had 1950s bi plane wallpaper on a whole wall. It was really cool and I totally wish I had took a picture to show you guys "But I didn't want to look like some weirdo snapping pics in a strangers house."

The seller told me that the couch had belonged to her parents who died in the 1970's. She then took it and had it in a spare room in her basement and and had only used it 4 or 5 times.

The seller also had a HUGE aloe vera  plant sitting in the window sill of the room the sofa bed was in. I told her it was nice and looked to be thriving. She then asked if I wanted some of it to re-plant. The next thing you know shes digging in her aloe plant pulling me out some pieces.

I planted what she gave me and I hope it survives the moving shock. I will show you my newly acquired aloe in my next post.

The fun doesn't stop there... I was then asked if I wanted to keep the bedding that was on the sofa bed because if not She was just going to donate them to a thrift store.

I have not taken a good look at them yet they are still in the vehicle and I need to wash them,  but I know that two of them are vintage wool 50s - 60s  blankets and for sure one has satin trim. There is also a 60's floral sheet.

*Sigh of happiness*

 As I type this I am sitting on my new to me Sofa. When I suddenly thought to myself... I hope I don't wear the foam out in these cushions of this couch because I like it way to much.

 Apparently it will give me a HEALTHFUL sleep too so that's a bonus.

I am looking forward to garage saling on Saturday morning.

Maybe I will find some throw pillows.
