Mother's Day at the Chinese Buffet

A picture of my Mother and I and our GIGANTIC plates of Chinese food.

Every time we go I grab at least one oyster... but once I get it from it's shell and examine it. (No clue why I do that.) My feelings change. *lol* I think it's the 3rd time it's happened. So I think from now on I won't put the tongs near them.

My Inspiration for my outfit was a Flamingo eating a Kiwi!
Since it was Mother's day and I am not yet a Mother I decided to take Mr. Coco to the park.

I wore my Valentine Cowboy boots cause they matched my pink dress pretty much perfectly.

 "Yeee - Hawwwwww"

 "You naughty Dinosaur!"

 Be careful Loo!

 "THROWN FROM THE DINO"

On Saturday when I was out shopping I noticed Walmart had their "Big Balls" on sale for $2.50
I like to buy these for Jersey every once in awhile. He LOVES them but makes sure to KILL them within minutes. So they are a special treat.
Here he is sitting waiting patiently to get his ball.
Let the craziness begin....

It's a &#@!*# ALIEN POD!!

 "Go back to your PLANET!!"

 Success in Alien pod extermination
Well that was a bit of my weekend.
I will share my Saturday garage sale finds with you on Tues or Wed as I still need to take photos.
On Saturday I went and had my weekly Ramen. I was thrilled when I realized the green onion in the bowl matched my freshly painted nails!

Yes I am easily fascinated!

Happy Mother's day to all the Mommies!!
Whether your a  mommy of a human child or a dog mommy, a cat mommy, a bird mommy, a rabbit mommy, a snake mommy, a goldfish mommy, a hamster mommy or any sort of animal mommy.

How I spent my weekend

On Friday I FINALLY got to go do some shopping after a WHOLE week. (Gosh that seemed like a long time to not step into a thrift store.)
But before I went to any second hand shops the Mr. wanted to take me to look for my Valentines gift. On my wish list was a pair of cowboy / girl boots.

Now we were really just going there to look and find out my size. But there was a awesome sale and well... you know how it goes. One box left in my size and the color I liked best so we were not going to leave without them.

The first time they set out on pavement

My Lobster shirt which I told you all about and then didn't show a pic of until now. I wore it out shopping on Friday.

And it's from Mexico so I think Dora would love it too!

Isn't he a classy lobster?? Ray bans and a white suit jacket complete with a corsage.

A Saturday me

I found the owl necklace just minutes before for $3 in a hospice thrift shop.
That makes owl necklace count up to 3 now.

Dinner on Saturday night.

We saw the sign for this new place in the beginning of Dec and they were just setting up the place. The windows were all covered up and the only giveaway of what it was to be was the sign above the business that said "Ramen coming soon" My Mr. has a thing for Japanese stuff and I don't mind it myself either.

So when I pointed out the sign he became OBSESSED with waiting for the shops opening. (Sometimes we would even drive to the opposite side of town where it was just to see if they had opened yet.) *lol* He would also take the route passed there anytime we were even in the vicinity of the place.

I told him by mid January that I had a feeling they would be opening in the beginning of Feb and wouldn't you know it?! I was right.

Everyone in the restaurant at the time we were there was Asian. (We have a University here that has alot of International students.) We sort of looked like the odd ones out... SO I MADE SURE to try and use my chopsticks like a professional so I fit in better. I only had one incidence where I almost lost control of my noodles. *heh*

Here I am with my schmancy chopsticks and a red Buddha laughing at me.

The Ramen was Delicious and I know I will be going there alot from now on.

The owner was a really nice Japanese guy who was super friendly. I will have to take a pic of the interior next time I am there. There is 21 stools and the seating is in rows. So if you sit at a table complete strangers can sit across from you. *hehe* Something I am not used to at all. But in Japan that's how they do it.

The sign outside the shop. I am pointing to the one I ordered.

Apparently Jersey had a rough weekend so he has spent his time lounging like some spoiled celebrity dog.

So how was your weekend? I would like to know!

Royal Mail arrives in Canada

NO! Not from Queen Elizabeth... from Curtise my faux fur loving friend in the UK. http://sopastcaring.blogspot.com/

The package was waiting for my when I woke up Yesterday morning.

As soon as I seen it I did a quick little package dance and opened it up.

Inside was: Carousel Jug, a sweet little doll, birdy card, Canada tea towel (Now how did that make it all the way to the UK? lol), cute ocean theme postcard
and last but not least a adorable vintage dress.
*Yeeeeeaaii*

Dress top is white lacy fabric, separated by a pink ribbon waist, leading to a lot of cute-sy flowers.

Dolly: When she got here she was quite shy. I don't really know what she thought about Canada. But once I told her she could have a dog her shyness disappeared.

I named her Kinsey which means 'Royal victory'

Totally fitting isn't it?? *hehe* Her Boxers name is Muck and they played outside all day today in the melting snow.

This reminds me of when I was a kid. My parent's used to take us to the States and I would ride on the outdoor carousel in Seattle. Come to think of it I would ask to ride on every darn carousel I seen.

Picture on the postcard

Which will now have a place on my side bar.

And the tea towel that tried to immigrate from Canada to the UK but couldn't get a Visa. Better luck next time little towel.

Thank you so much Curtise for your sweet and thoughtful package. It came at a perfect time. I haven't been in a thrift shop since Friday and I SWEAR I am going batty. And then like a dream come true...without entering a shop some vintage goodies arrive at my doorstep. What could be better than that??

Not much!

Lastly I am sure you see that Vintage Coconut has a new Crustacean-ious look.

That is because on February 14th (VALENTINES DAY)

It is my 2 year Blogiversary. I really hadn't updated my blogs look since I started it up. So I thought a little change might freshen things up

(You know... like misty Ocean air.)

In 2010 I only did 28 posts.

In 2011 I did 87

I am hoping in 2012 I will be able to get to at least 100 posts.

All I can say is if you suffer from Ostraconophobia... you might want to steer clear of this blog.

Mrs. Mercy Morbid (Frock on Friday)

Hello everyone! I wanted to thank you for all the lovely comments about Hazel my Vanity table from last post.

She is rather chuffed upon hearing all of your comments.

(You see that?? You hang around with other bloggers from different parts of the world you start using their slang.)

Although.. since Hazel is English I figure it is fine.

Now onto the FROCK!

"Hello I am Nanny Mercy I am here to care for your children"
Dress: $1.00

Carpet bag: $2.00

Leather boots: $0.75

Leather gloves:$1.99

Hair flower: Tara

Cross necklace: $0.99 Clearance Walmart

Black glass bead necklace $5.00

Total spent: $11.73

So this dress was lusted after by me for a few weeks. I am pretty sure I seen it the day it came out onto the thrift store floor. The price was about 8 dollars. (Not bad not bad.... But not the best when you are a lady who can clothe her entire body for half that at times.) So what did I do?? Well I took a chance on waiting until this immaculate dress would end up becoming the dollar day tag color I needed it to be. I am sure 4 weeks went by. I would check on her from time to time. Lucky for me she was placed in an area of the front window that I could see when I would pass by. (As the store is seriously mere blocks from my house) I must have muttered "My dress is still there" many times to whoever I was with when we would drive past.

Patience paid off! I went right at opening time on the day her tag color was on discount. Un-hung her and thought in my mind... "I did it.. yes.. I win!"
*smile*
The other half seen these skull roses I was bringing with me for photos and said: "Well... NOW you look Morbid"
Hence the name ... Mercy Morbid

So how could I make this frock post even more fitting?? Well see the building in the background? Would you be a little spooked if I told you it is a abandoned sanatorium? It started up in 1907 and ran until 1958

It is a rather chilling place to look at. I try not to look into the windows in fear that I may see a face or someone waving. *EEEpp*

After the Sanatorium closed they reopened it for other purposes until 1984 when it was closed permanently. People who have snuck in and caretakers and security of the property say it is haunted.
(See the look on my face above)

I am 1 a little bit sad a building so old is just left like a hollow shell
sitting to rot. 2 A little creeped out, and worried about hearing a strange noise or seeing someone that shouldn't be seen.

Maybe I was worried a woman from the past would see me and think "Ohhh there is my friend Pearl Anne I must go say hi to her!"
*laugh*
